| BLUEBELL RAILWAY - GIANTS OF STEAM 2009
SATURDAY 24.OCTOBER I was looking forward to this event, so was a bit disappointed to find it raining on Saturday morning. But despite the rain and wind, there was a good number of people present, enjoying the giants steaming along the line. The rain did stop later in the afternoon and the sun came out before the end of the day. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Engines in steam at this event....... 34059 'Sir Archibald Sinclair' (Bullied Pacific) This was the first time I had seen it since the completion of a long restoration project and wonderful it looked too! 1638 (SR U-class 2-6-0) 80151 (BR 4MT 2-6-4T) 9017 'Earl of Berkeley' (GWR Dukedog 4-4-0 in BR black now) 592 (SECR C-class 0-6-0) which was the reserve loco -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other attractions included.... Brake van rides on the Ardingly branch from Horsted Keynes Freight train hauled by 9017 Atlantic House open to see the current state of the re-construction of 32424 'Beachy Head' Carriage Works Tours at Horsted Keynes Model Railway exhibition on the upper floor of the Bessimer Arms at Sheffield Park Display of working Stationary Engines at Horsted Keynes Click on a photo to see a bigger image.
