| BLUEBELL RAILWAY TERRIER GALA
11.November 2006 There were 5 Terriers meeting up for this Gala. The London Brighton and South Coast Railway found these little engines ideal. They were lightweight, economic, effiecient and good performers. They were built back in the 1870s. 672 'Fenchurch' owned by the Bluebell Railway. 662 'Martello' visiting from the Bressingham Steam Museum in Norfolk. 55 'Stepney' was the first loco to arrive at the Bluebell Railway in 1960. W8 'Freshwater' visiting from the Isle of Wight Railway at Havenstreet. 32678 'Knowle' visiting from the Kent and East Sussex Railway at Tenterden and owned by the Terrier Trust. 32473 the E4 built at Brighton in 1898 and 80151 (as 80154) Standard Class 4 Tank were also working the line during the Gala. A 35 minutes service throughout the day was hauled exclusively by tank engines built at Brighton. Unfortunately a 6th Terrier 'Bodiam' from Kent and East Sussex Railway was unable to attend, so to fill the gap 65 SECR 01 Class Loco deputized. Click on photo to see a bigger image.
